Precautions for electric vehicle charging piles

‌The following matters need to be noted during the use of electric vehicle charging piles:

‌Choose the right charging equipment: Use a manufacturer-certified charging pile or original charger, and avoid using unqualified charging equipment to prevent damage to the battery or reduce charging efficiency. Home charging piles should be installed by professionals and their operation should be checked regularly.

‌Keep the power in a reasonable range: The optimal power range for electric vehicles is 20% to 80%. Try to avoid charging when the power is too low (below 20%), and do not often charge the power to 100%, which can effectively extend the battery life.

‌Prefer slow charging: Slow charging is the best choice for protecting the battery in daily use, because it has a small charging current, reduces the heat accumulation of the battery, and helps to extend the life. Although fast charging is fast, the high current will accelerate the internal aging of the battery and should only be used in emergency situations.

‌Pay attention to the ambient temperature: The battery is very sensitive to temperature. Avoid charging in high temperatures in summer, and use the vehicle's battery preheating function (if supported) in low temperatures in winter. Generally speaking, the temperature of the charging environment should be between 0°C and 45°C.

‌Maintain charging equipment regularly: Check the cleanliness and integrity of the charging port and equipment regularly to ensure that there is no dust, foreign matter or moisture. If damage is found, it should be repaired or replaced in time to avoid affecting the charging efficiency.

‌Charging time should not be too long: The battery should be powered off in time after it is fully charged to avoid keeping it fully charged for a long time, which may increase the burden on the battery and shorten the battery life. Some electric vehicles support setting a charging upper limit (such as automatic power off at 80%), which can be fully utilized.

‌Check before charging: Check whether the charging pile and its related equipment are intact, and ensure that the fire-fighting equipment, facilities and equipment are kept clean and dry. Do not let heavy objects press on the power cord or step on the power cord manually. Check whether there is foreign matter or water in the charging gun, and ensure that the gun lock is locked.

‌Precautions during charging: Make sure that the charging gun head is fully connected to the charging gun holder, and the vehicle should remain stationary. Hybrid vehicles need to be turned off before charging. It is strictly forbidden to remove the gun head during charging or touch the charging gun core with your hands when it is charged. If you encounter an abnormal situation, press the emergency stop button immediately.

‌Post-charging processing‌: After full charging or charging ends in advance, swipe the card to end charging (if there is this function), then unplug the charging gun, cover the charging gun cap and hang it on the charging pile hook, organize the cables and put them on the wire rack, and lock the charging port and car door.

‌Other precautions‌: Avoid using and storing charging equipment in harsh environments such as humidity and high temperature. Update the software version of the charging equipment regularly to ensure its normal operation. Do not use the charging equipment unattended to avoid accidents.
